In order to bring Capital Region professionals even more networking, CAYP held its first members-only event on February 22nd, 2012 at Athos restaurant in Guilderland, NY. The event was a success with nearly 40 CAYP members in attendance. The intimate atmosphere was the perfect opportunity to catch up with someone you may have missed at the last monthly event.

Much of the success of our first member’s event was due to our host – Athos restaurant. Not only did they provide an assortment of appetizers from their menu, but Athos also invites all CAYP members back to receive buy-one-get-one drink specials every Thursday. Each week, they will have live music from a variety of genres. Just let the staff know you are a CAYP member in order to receive this exclusive member’s perk.

CAYP members receive free admission to our monthly networking events (which are $10 for non-members) and are listed in our member directory. Plus, CAYP members can now attend exclusive networking events, like this one at Athos, which will be held quarterly.

If we haven’t seen you lately, make sure to catch the next CAYP event at Albany’s popular Jack’s Oyster House. The event will be March 22, 2012 from 6:00pm – 9:0opm. The cost is $0 for members, $10 for non-members.

CAYP’s February 2012 Event at Wolf’s 1-11

Not only does CAYP bring together the Capital Region’s bright and talented young professionals, but we also make sure we bring them to the area’s newest and trendiest establishments. This month, CAYP gathered at Wolf’s 1-11 on Pearl Street, next to the Times Union Center. With comfy leather couches, plenty of appetizers and a lofty view of the whole bar, the venue was a perfect spot to get to know some new faces.

February’s event was graciously sponsored by Couch White, LLP, a full-service business law firm. Wolf’s 1-11 also contributed two $25 gift certificates for the lucky winners our monthly business card drawing.

If you need a testament as to how valuable CAYP’s networking events can be, ask Lauryn Kowalski. As Lauryn checked in, she proudly exclaimed that her first CAYP event helped land her new job. A couple months ago, Lauryn made the important connection that led to her new position at Potratz Automotive Advertising Agency.

Jonathan Root, marketing director at Smith and Jones, had a positive first experience this month. He was impressed with how easy it was to start a conversation with people, “everyone was friendly, and it was nice to be around a group that was similar to me in age and career level.”
