Event Recap: May 2013 at The Point

A full house at The Point, a Capital Region young professional hot spot

CAYP held its May networking event at The Point — our second time at this fine Albany eatery. And, this time was even better than the first. May’s event attracted over 100 capital region professionals from all industries. Finance, healthcare, printing, education — you name it! The atmosphere was filled with excitement, but don’t take it from me …

“The CAYP event at The Point was a great experience. There was a large turnout of people from a variety of professions. I enjoyed networking in a relaxed atmosphere.” – Mallory Baringer, Legislative Director for the New York State Senate

The event was sponsored by another capital region favorite, CAP COM Federal Credit Union. What’s so hot about CAP COM right now? Apply for an auto loan (with an APR as low as 1.99%!), a CAP COM credit card, or a home equity loan and you will be automatically entered to win a trip to Atlantis!

The Point provided our attendees with delectable samples from their full menu, and next month we’ll be networking while enjoying classic American at Jacob and Anthony’s American Grille  in Saratoga on June 19th at 5:30! You don’t want to miss our first Saratoga event at revered restaurant by the Marrello Group!

Don’t forget to check out our Facebook page to view more pictures from the evening — and while you’re there, give us a “like” too for a chance to win a free membership OR free tickets to our anniversary event in July!

By Kate Fruscione, CFAC Committee Chair

We had a fabulous day at Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless this past Saturday, April 20th. More than 15 CAYP members joined committee members from CFAC (CAYP for a Cause) to spend a day with the shelter guests and staff. We cooked a brunch of pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit, and orange juice while managing to keep the place standing and not burn the house down!

Others did some gardening projects outside in the beautiful sunshine. They planted flowers, raked the yard, and gave the property a beautiful makeover. It was a perfect day. We ate with the guests and learned about their lives and commitment to the homeless shelter.

After lunch, some of us prepared an Italian feast for the guests to heat up and eat that evening, while others worked on assembling favors for the Taste of Albany, a charity event to benefit Interfaith, sponsored by CAYP. We are looking forward to our next CFAC adventure, which we hope to schedule for this summer.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered Saturday and spent the day with us, helping the well being of others in our community.

Event Recap: April 2013 at Recovery Sports Grill

Malta Group

Everyone loves to unwind after a long day at work, and what better way to connect with fellow young professionals than at the relaxed sports-themed environment of the Recovery Sports Grill? With locations in New York, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia, this Capital Region favorite is spreading its success down the east coast. For April’s event, CAYP gathered at the Malta location in order to cater to our members who work further up the Northway.

The Recovery Sports Grill served us well — buffalo chicken wontons, Bavarian pretzels, chicken tenders and mini salads. Yum!

To add to the fun, our event was sponsored by the TriCity Valley Cats. If you don’t already know, they’re our local baseball team. Whether you’re looking for a fun night out with friends, or something different for entertaining a client, a Valley Cats game is the spot to be in the summer. To celebrate the start of the season, two lucky CAYP attendees won tickets to opening night on June 17th!

Speaking of the upcoming warm weather months, be sure to pencil in CAYP’s May event at The Point on Madison Ave in Albany!
