CFAC Recap: Habitat for Humanity

HabitatGroup

What a beautiful day we had last Saturday, 4/19, at Habitat for Humanity’s downtown Sheridan Ave build site!

More than 15 CAYP members and board members joined us for a full day of fresh air, power tools, 2x4s, and most importantly, giving back! We started the day at 9 am, with orientation with Mandee Naan, Capital District Habitat for Humanity’s Volunteer Coordinator, and soon after were getting our “gear on”. We were given hard hats, nails, hammers, tool belts, safety glasses and put right to work!

We met Bailey, the Habitat Mascot, took some group shots, and started with the tools. Some of us were better with the nail gun and power saws than others! We worked on framing, sub flooring, general construction, and we even built walls! Pizza was served for lunch, but the full day of volunteer work for such a great cause was the most rewarding. It was such a blast, and we can’t wait for our next Habitat project in the future.

Thanks to all the members who joined us for the day!

Event Recap: Recovery Room Sports Grill

RecoveryRoomAlbany

Last night CAYP held their monthly social networking event at the newly renovated Recovery Room Sports Grill in downtown Albany. The restaurant looked amazing! We want to give a special thank you to Sarah and the Recovery Room Sports Grill staff for greeting us with such warm hospitality.

The members and non-members who joined us last night were privy to a sampling of delicious salads, some great finger foods, and wonderful drinks, all of which enhanced the networking that was happening.

We would also like to thank Donate Life’s Aubrey and Becky for doing a special presentation on the importance of organ donation and the impact it has in our own back yard. It was wonderful to have them there sharing information and raising awareness for organ donation registration, especially during Donate Life month.

If you missed this event, don’t worry because we have our May event lined up for Wolf’s 1-11 (Wolf Rd) on May 21st!

We hope to see you there!

Event Recap: Angelo’s Prime Bar + Grill

CAYP3

What a Marvelous March event last night!

CAYP, Capital Alliance of Young Professionals, hosted more than 75 young go-getters at the beautfiul Hilton Garden Inn, Clifton Park/Angelo’s Prime Bar + Grill.

Despite some cold and slushy weather, our guests made the event warm and inviting not to mention the networking was top notch!

The cheddar chardonnay fondue and penne alla vodka was out of the world! Special thanks to Mazzone Hospitality for the delicious food and allowing us to use their space.

Our sponsors, Danielle Smith and Bob Kelly from SEFCU Mortgage Services, made quite an appearance last night as well. They raffled off TWO $50 gift cards to Prime Bar + Grill and the winners were thrilled with the unexpected prize. Danielle Smith spoke on behalf of the credit union, and they had a fun interactive table that allowed guests to ask valuable mortgage and loan questions. Another success!

Join us next month at the newly renovated Recovery Sports Grill at Albany Medical Center on April 16th! See you there and thanks to everyone who joined us last night. We look forward to seeing you soon!
