Title: Director of Sales
Company: Spinelli Art & Design, Inc.
Location: Saratoga, NY

Our latest pick for the Member Spotlight, Austin Iuliano, is an export of the West Coast, yet has planted himself firmly here in the Capital Region, Saratoga specifically, where he now lives and works.

As the Director of Sales for Spinelli Art & Design Inc., Austin is responsible for developing sales and building relationships with clients that are looking for creative solutions to help their business stand out.  Although the origins of Spinelli Art & Design focused primarily on fine art, today the company has grown more to incorporate graphic design services, yet embracing and fueling creativity through fine art inspiration and concepts.

“What we offer are creative solutions,” Austin explained.  He alluded to their philosophy of treating graphic design like analytical problem solving.  “We work with businesses to identify their needs and what will set them apart from the competition.”  The company offers an extensive array of services including branding, graphic design, website services, photography, printing and much more.

As we chatted over coffee in Uncommon Grounds on Broadway, Austin’s “satellite office”, I discovered that he hadn’t always been involved in this field.  In fact, this is something completely different than he had ever seen himself doing.

“I didn’t ever really like business, per say,” he told me.  “Although I was studying business, I took a shot in the dark…and fell in love with massage therapy.”

And a massage therapist he became.  Combining his business experience and passion for this new trade, Austin established himself as a young entrepreneur for a couple of years.  Ultimately, he found his current position and left massage therapy behind, but his ability to help companies establish their own identities to his experience with the obstacles of starting his own business.

Austin joined CAYP because of his passion for building relationships and finding out what other people do for a living.

“I know it’s cliché, but it’s really about who you know, not what you know,” said Austin.  “After meeting someone new, I like to ask them to introduce me to somebody they know.  Networking is almost like hosting a party…you want to be able to facilitate conversation. “

When he’s not out meeting new people and is looking to relax, Austin enjoys snowboarding.  He actually was a snowboarding instructor for about 10 years.  He even offered to give me a few snowboarding pointers, but I quickly recounted my tumble down a mountain while skiing a few years ago, explaining my reluctance to ever ski or snowboard again.  It was a nice offer, though.

So whether you’re looking to sell your business in a creative way, need some snowboarding tips, want to get into the massage therapy business or happen to be at Uncommon Grounds in Saratoga, be sure to connect with Austin Iuliano.  You know his story now, and he’s happy and eager to learn yours, too.

Be sure to say “hello” to Austin at our next CAYP Networking Event which will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at Revolution Hall in Troy at 5:30 p.m.  See you then!
